Summary – Reporting to the Manufacturing Quality Manager, the Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) will be responsible for quality oversight throughout qualification activities of suppliers, new product introduction, and sustaining operations.

The SQE will work closely with Supply Chain, Procurement, QA, Manufacturing, and Design Engineering to anticipate and prevent supplier quality issues. This role is responsible for supporting technical review, investigating supplier non-conformances, performing supplier audits, gating supplier deliverables, BMS document authoring, and leading supplier corrective actions.

The SQE will liaise between Design Engineering and Manufacturing to manage engineering changes related to supplier quality improvement and quality issues. This role will drive BMS procedures updates in compliance with AS9100 and ISO standards. The Supplier Quality Engineer must thrive in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while managing shifting priorities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Proactively communicate information or issues that may impact product quality or costs of manufacturability to all affected departments.
  • Supplier approval process: perform audits to qualify new suppliers, assess manufacturing/technology and quality capabilities of onboarding suppliers, surveillance, and disapproval assessments.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and corrective actions identified as supplier quality issues, and support MRB dispositions, requiring SQE review and approval.
  • Analyze, strategically monitor and trend quality indicators to report to management and to provide early warning for quality related issues.
  • Utilize project and research skills when offering solutions, alternatives, or pathways forward.
  • Evaluate First Article Inspection results per the requirements of AS9102 as well as train suppliers to meet Supplier Quality Requirements.
  • Update and create Quality documentation such as Standard Operating Procedures and Work Instructions.
  • Identify supplier quality expectations throughout product design and customize supplier flow-down requirements early in procurement phases.
  • Establish strong relationships with suppliers to instill quality improvement and collaborative quality issue resolutions.

 

Competency – Strong attention to detail.

  • Experience with ERP system/Quality Management Software, PLM, Auto Cad Viewer, PCB Data Viewers.
  • Atleast 1-6 years' experience in Quality Engineering, preferably aerospace industry.
  • Experience working with AS9100 and ISO 9001 standards, and FAA and EASA regulations.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and time management skills both written and verbal.
  • Strong Documentation and change order experience (i.e.: updating procedures, creating specific inspection plans, redlining drawings for engineering, protocols, etc.)
  • Understands geometric tolerance, GD&T, acceptance sampling plans, precision tools, and statistical analysis.

 

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor's degree and / or related experience in related fields of engineering, science, or regulatory affairs.

Preferred Qualification

Experience with ERP system/Quality Management Software, PLM, Auto Cad Viewer, PCB Data Viewers.  Minimum 1-3 years' experience in Quality Engineering, preferably aerospace industry.  Experience working with AS9100 and ISO 9001 standards, and FAA and EASA regulations
