Project Kuiper is an initiative to increase global broadband access through a constellation of 3,000+ satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO). Key job responsibilities
As a System Development Engineer in the Bus S&Flight Operations team, you will work with a wide variety of functional groups and will be involved in the design and implementation of software systems for the full cycle of provisioning of Satellites and ancillary, as well as overall system integration:
- Develop tools for pre- and post- vehicle validation and testing
- Support software bring-up, debug of new hardware.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to design and implement optimized validation and verification software.

Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

A day in the life
Have you wanted an opportunity to develop the software applications and services for an advanced global communications service? This role is for a SysDev who will design, build, and maintain components and services of Project Kuiper's Customer eCommerce Services and interact with the core Kuiper Network.

About the team
Our team owns developing the architecture, solutions & roadmap for managing the customer lifecycle for communications services; including identity and account management, subscriber management services, user provisioning, billing and payments, customer and technical support tools, offer management tools, and customer metrics and analytics.

- BS or MS in electrical engineering, computer engineering or computer science, or equivalent experience
- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience with Java and Python or other scripting languages. Experience automating, building, and testing systems
- Experience with HW/SW bring up and debugging
- Experience working in a hardware lab

- Solid fundamental CS / EE skill set with hands-on industry or university experience in embedded software development
- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $116,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $201,200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
