Job Description

AirAsia X is seeking a dynamic Technical Services Engineer - System & Avionics  to be part of the best airline team in the sky!

Job Purpose:
To provide technical support for aircraft systems and avionics, ensuring continued airworthiness, operational reliability, and compliance with regulatory requirements.

Qualifications & Minimum Experience and Knowledge Requirements:

  • Educational Requirements:
    a. A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in any relevant Engineering discipline from a recognized institution, or
    b. A minimum of 3 years of relevant working experience on Airbus aircraft is preferred. Candidates with previous experience in project management, research and projects development, or participation in organizing community works will have an added advantage.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical support for interior and mechanical system issues under ATA chapters 21, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30, and 36.
  • Offer efficient and effective technical support to aircraft operations.
  • Prepare and issue the required technical documents in accordance with approved procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Liaise with manufacturers, suppliers, aviation authorities, and other relevant sources to facilitate the analysis of engineering issues.
  • Evaluate continuing airworthiness data and provide sentencing recommendations to the Modification Evaluation Meeting for approval.
  • Perform fleet homogeneity studies for new/used aircraft.
  • Support aircraft induction processes.
  • Provide approved data for technical instructions such as inspections, modifications, and repairs not covered by the manufacturer's manuals.
  • Ensure all technical documents issued comply with the department’s approval system requirements.
  • Assist the Reliability section with root cause analysis, offering remedies for excessive or abnormal wear, malfunctions, or premature removals.
  • Undertake development studies to improve aircraft dispatch reliability and provide recommendations as necessary.
  • Ensure sufficient skills are acquired and inform the superior of required training to improve competency.
  • Undertake corrective and preventive actions resulting from compliance monitoring and audit program findings.
  • Responsible for the development of the Minimum Equipment List (MEL) and Flight Test Schedule (FTS).
  • Responsible for preparing the Flight Condition Document (FCD), Permit to Fly (PTF), and Ferry Flight Clearance applications for submission to CAAM.
  • Manage and control the EDTO Engineering Manual.
  • Conduct review meetings for EDTO.
  • Follow up on EDTO technical and flight operational matters.
  • Review Configuration, Maintenance, Procedure, and Dispatch standards (CMP) related to EDTO.
  • Liaise with authorities related to EDTO compliance and certification.
  • Monitor aircraft modification related to EDTO.
  • Undertake corrective and preventive actions resulting from compliance monitoring and audit program findings.
  • Support TSE Avionics on the following topics:
    • Provide technical support for avionics issues under ATA chapters 22, 23, 24, 31, 33, 34, 45, 46, and 92.
    • Manage and control the Field Loadable Software list, Navigation Database uploading, Terrain Database uploading, airplane IPRAM uploading, and Electrical Load Analysis (ELA) for all aircraft.
  • Perform any other relevant duties as assigned by the superior.

  • Willingness to work at ad hoc or flexible hours to address aircraft defects and/or operational issues.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Strong communication skills to liaise with various stakeholders such as suppliers, manufacturers, and aviation authorities.
