Training Manager - Aviation Security

We have an exciting in-contract opportunity for an experienced training professional with demonstrated experience in Aviation Security or high risk environments to join our onsite ISS management team based at Brisbane Airport as a Training Manager in a Full Time capacity.  As this is a key operational role, it requires being onsite 5 days a week.

Reporting directly to the GM, the Training Manager is responsible for the development, implementation, communication and management of the training outcomes and functions within and across the Brisbane Airport (BNE) Contract. 

To achieve the above outcomes, the individual will work closely with the Senior Leadership team to create an engaged aviation team, who understand their role and have the skillset and training to 'protect the skies' from induction training through to fully qualified Aviation Protection Officers (APO’s) on the working areas of the business. In addition, they will provide exceptional 'customer experience training' which ultimately will in turn significantly contribute to our clients achieving their commercial objectives.

The position will have two direct reports (Training Officers), to manage, lead & develop.

The Position:

• Be the Training expert in all airport security regulatory requirements, ISS training requirements and the training SME at ISS Brisbane Airport;

• Ensure APO’s (Screeners) are fully trained and qualified in accordance with the Aviation Transport Security Act and Regulations through the TSP program;
• Establish and maintain productive relationships with other airport organisations (Customs, AFP, airlines, etc.);
• Be available "on call" to action or assist in respect to emergencies or other site related problems as part of the emergency response team;
• Resolve all training requirements, and provide detailed clear concise instructions relating to any training changes and report as a lead manager;
• Partner with the other Leadership Team members and have regular meetings to ensure that both the Customer Service expectations, operational requirements and training needs are being met;
• Maintain and foster strong working relationships with the Compliance Manager, Supervisors, Duty Managers and all leads;
• Provide leadership - foster the development of a common vision for team - provide clear direction and priorities - clarify roles and responsibilities - build employee engagement.
• Champion change - challenge the status quo & champion continuous measurable improvement.

• Provide monthly reporting accurately and on time
• Maintain all matrix, records and monitor compliance and expiry of required training
• Act as the central point of contact for regular external audits into training practices and record keeping

• Participate in WHS consultation arrangements
• Participate in the Return To Work program if an injury occurs

With previous experience as a site lead or higher position, you will have worked within a team environment to have delivered leadership and management training.

Other essential competencies and qualifications required are as follows:

• Have sound understanding of the compliance and legislative requirements surrounding airport security
• TAE40116 - Certificate IV in Training and Assessment – or an equivalent level of qualifications
• Ability to obtain an ASIC or be the current holder of an ASIC - Aviation Security ID Card

• Have a current QLD Security License
• Strong Leadership, commercial and organisational knowledge.
• Exceptional communication skills - written and verbal and a high level of personal integrity

• Strong Customer Service ethic & skills
• Effective time management and organisational skills with the demonstrated ability to multitask and meet training deadlines

• High level of computer literacy

Desirable Criteria:

• Diploma or Degree in Security Risk Management, or other relevant tertiary qualification
• Possess a thorough knowledge of the security legislation ATSR 2005/ATSA2004 and of APAM's Security Screening Operations Manual
• Experience as a security operative/General security experience.
